DSC launches Sports Fingerprint Award
dubai — The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award, instituted almost a decade ago, has been honouring individuals, teams and organisations who have significantly contributed to sport in the UAE and the Arab world.
And as an evolution to that, the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) has partnered with the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, to institute another
award with a difference. Following a directive from His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council, the two bodies have launched the annual Sports Fingerprint (Limitless Abilities) Award.
The new award will celebrate and honour individuals and institutions at the local level, who spread positive values in society and contribute towards the nation and community through their humanitarian work
and initiatives in the sports sector and have left a lasting imprint.
The Awards ceremony will coincide the Emirati Humanitarian Day, which is commemorated annually on the 19th day of the Holy Month of Ramadan to mark the death anniversary of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
The winners will be honoured every year during the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament and comes within the framework of Watani Al Emarat Foundation’s ‘Humanitarian Work Awards,’ which was announced
this year under the slogan ‘That’s What Zayed Used to Love.’
“Sport in the UAE enjoys the unlimited support of our generous leadership, who wish to see sport become a source of happiness and positivity in the country and the community embrace a physically active lifestyle,” Saeed Hareb, secretary general of the DSC, said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Nominations start on January 6, 2019 and closes in May 6, 2019.
