Honor’s growth rockets 560% in UAE
dubai — Mid-range smartphone giant Honor unveiled its newest device, capping a year in which it had aggressively expanded with a host of launches worldwide.
The 6.21-inch Honor 10 Lite was launched in Dubai on Tuesday, aimed at millennials and continues the brand’s legacy of offering affordable devices.
Honor — a sub-brand of Chinese tech bellwether Huawei Technologies — is doing well in the GCC’s two largest markets: in terms of market share, the company says it is in the top four in both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Justin Li, managing director of Honor MEA, said during a presentation that the brand has enjoyed
growth of over 560 per cent in the past 10 months.
For 2019, Li stressed that it is
aiming for a place in the top three in the UAE, along with a 20 per cent market share. Honor also figures in the upper echelon in other key territories, including India, Russia, Italy, the UK and Spain. In its home turf of China, Honor is the No.1 smartphone e-brand.
Chris Sun, president of Honor MEA, said during a media roundtable after the keynote that the secret behind the brand’s success in the affordable segment is that they do not like to make “unnecessary changes” to their devices to meet their target price points.
He also touted the growth of the brand in the region: “In Saudi Arabia we are growing fast, and this is much faster in the UAE... and we intend of keeping that momentum in the future.”
