islamabad — Senator Hasil Bizenjo on Wednesday moved a privilege motion in the Senate on a media trial against him and his family by the National Accountabi­lity Bureau (NAB).

Speaking in the Senate, he said according to the NAB, as reported in the media, he and former Balochista­n chief minister Abdul Malik allegedly made properties worth billions of rupees in Punjab.

He said names of his family members, including wife, daughter and nephews, were mentioned in a NAB statement issued to the media which damaged reputation of his family.

“I challenge the NAB, ISI, FIA to form a joint investigat­ion team (JIT) against me and the PTI can also form a committee for investigat­ion.”

Senate Deputy Chairman Saleem Mandviwala, who was presiding over the session, said he would examine the motion and give his ruling on Thursday.

Leader of the House Shibli Faraz said the House should not send out a message that senators were above accountabi­lity. — islamabad — The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government plans to file a reference before the Election Commission against former president Asif Ali Zardari seeking his disqualifi­cation over concealmen­t of assets, Informatio­n Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a Press conference, Fawad claimed that nomination papers of the PPP co-chairperso­n omitted details of an apartment he owned in the US and added that the PTI had directed its Sindh lawmaker Khurram Sher Zaman to file the reference.

“Zardari owns an apartment in the US. Under Article 62/63, he was bound to declare his assets which he didn’t. He is not eligible to remain a member of Parliament anymore,” Chaudhry was quoted as saying by Geo News.

He said former leaders including Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif had already contested their last elections. —
