Man beats up a guard of women’s residence

sharjah — A man has been charged at the Sharjah Criminal Court for assaulting a security guard of a building that housed female employees. He was accused of being under the influence of alcohol as he beat up the victim.

The Filipino guard told the court that the incident took place in October during his night duty at the residence of the women employees in Sharjah’s Al Musla area.

He said he saw the suspect roaming around the area, trying to peep into the women’s residence. The guard told him to get away from the place and also informed the manager.

The victim added that after some time, he saw the accused with a group of people charging towards him.

They snatched his mobile phone away and rained blows on him, while trying to force

their way into the building, the victim said.

The guard called for help. His colleagues, who heard his screams, immediatel­y rushed to the spot, prompting the group to flee the scene. However, they managed to get hold of the accused.

He was arrested by the Sharjah Police and was referred to the public prosecutio­n.

During the court hearing, the accused confessed to the crime and said he was drunk at the time of the incident and was not aware and couldn’t recall his actions. The hearing of the case has been adjourned till January 17.
