Renew driving licence at roving RTA kiosk

dubai — Motorists can now renew their driver’s licence or vehicle registration through the Customer Happiness Centre on Wheels.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Tuesday launched a smart bus that is fully equipped to issue vehicle registration, driver’s licence and parking cards.

“Introducing a mobile customers’ happiness centre opens a new service outlet to serve the public, especially people of determination, senior Emiratis and residents as well as other community segments,” said Ahmed Mahboub, executive director of customer happiness at the RTA’s Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector.

The roving RTA customer service centre is initially available from January 1 to 10 at the Last Exit Khawaneej, from 4pm to 11pm.

Services at the mobile centre are offered instantly as the coach is equipped with self-service machines, Mahboub said.

“Employees will not intervene unless it is needed to help senior Emiratis and expats as well as people of determination,” he added.

“The RTA’s Customer Happiness Centre on Wheels aims to boost customers’ happiness by offering diverse service delivery channels, cutting the time and effort required to avail of such services. The move is in line with the Dubai government’s smart city initiative,” said Mahboub.

The roving kiosk is the RTA’s 10th customer service channel, aside from customers happiness

centres, smart apps, service providers, website, call centres, bank devices, trusted dealers, text messages and self-service kiosks.

Mahboub said the RTA smart bus will be deployed for 10 days per month in each of the 14 districts of Dubai.

He added: “Customers will be notified via text messages, website

and social media about the location of the centre in each district. Plans are being made to broaden the scope of the service to cover the widest number of clients.”

Before the mobile kiosk, the RTA rolled out last year two self-service kiosks that operate 24/7 at its Customer Happiness Centre in Umm Al Ramool.

The smart kiosks provide a range of services, including renewal of licence and registration of drivers and vehicles, and services related to no-objection certificates. It also has a top-up machine for Salik and parking cards and an ATM enabling customers to top up or use their eWallets.

The mobile centre aims to boost customers’ happiness by offering diverse channels, cutting the time and effort required to avail of such services.”
