Man stands trial for molesting a 14-year-old boy on Dubai street
dubai — The Dubai Police arrested an Emirati man who allegedly molested a 14-year-old boy after dragging him behind an electric generator and attempting to lure him into having sex, the Dubai Court of First Instance heard.
The Jordanian boy described the 38-year-old Emirati man’s appearance before police officers tracked him down and apprehended him.
The accused stopped his car next to the victim and his friend who were walking back home in Mirdif one night in March 2017. The suspect got out of his car and approached the victim, asking about his nationality as the other boy ran off.
“He asked me about my nationality, then dragged me behind an electric generator on the side road. He then offered to have sex with me, but I refused and tried to resist him,” the boy told prosecutors.
The accused forcibly gripped the boy’s shirt and molested him. The boy managed to push him away and escape before he reported the incident to his father who called the police.
According to court records, the boy described the man to the police, who conducted a search before displaying pictures of men with similar features to the boy. He was able to identify the accused, who was apprehended days later.
The suspect admitted to prosecutors that he was in Mirdif at the time of the incident and met the boys.
He faces molestation and verbal harassment charges.
