dubai – Pakistanis travelling from Dubai and other parts of the world back home will soon be able to get a discount of between 20 to 25 per cent when using Careem.

The Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development are collaborating with Careem and are launching a special promo code that can be used by Overseas Pakistanis when they use Careem once they travel back home, a spokesperson for Careem told Khaleej Times.

The decision was taken during a recent visit by Sayed Z Bukhari, special assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development to Dubai.

The ministry said in a tweet that the initiative was taken to thank overseas Pakistanis for their hard work when they return home or visit their loved ones.

During Bukhari’s visit to Dubai, he spoke to Careem captains and told them that the Pakistan government has planned a number of initiatives for them.

He also said that he met extremely hardworking Pakistani super captains in Dubai. “You are Pakistan’s ambassadors to the world and everything I have heard about your role in helping build up Careem to the current stature leads me to salute your incredible work ethics,” said Bukhari.

“The government is working on various investment plans for overseas Pakistanis to invest back home as well making them part of financial inclusion,” said a Careem spokesperson while giving a gist of the expected initiatives.

Mudassir Sheikha, co-founder and CEO of Careem, said: “Majority of our initial captains here in the UAE were from Pakistan.”

“Everything Careem is today, we owe it to our captains. If it weren’t for the support they provided us, our journey might have ended very early,” he said.

Junaid Iqbal, managing director of Careem, said: “With Careem’s ever-expanding and fast growing presence in Pakistan, some of the captains from the UAE are now advising their friends and family back home to work with the company back home.”
