Over 300 car plates up at RTA online auction

dubai — The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 300 four- and five-digit number plates at the forthcomin­g 55th online auction. Plates on offer bear the following codes — A, B, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S and T.

“Registrati­on begins on Sunday and the auction will start at 8am on February 24, continuing for five days,” said Jamal Al Sadah, RTA director of vehicles licensing.

“These kind of events contribute to enhancing the online service offering of the RTA; which is part of its annual plans for improving the quality and processing of public transactio­ns. They also render auctions as a tool of maximising the satisfacti­on and happiness of clients, especially number plate enthusiast­s by offering them the liberty of selecting their fancied plates in a ha sle-free environmen­t,” commented Al Sadah.

The selling of licensing plates in this auction will be subject to a five per cent VAT. To participat­e in the auction, the client has to have an account on RTA website www.rta.

ae, or use the New User’s link to obtain a username and password. Registrati­on of a new user requires the applicant to have a vehicle registered in Dubai or a driver licence issued from the emirate.

Potential bidders are required to submit a security cheque amounting to Dh5,000 addressed to the RTA, along with a non-refundable participat­ion fee of Dh120. Payment can be made at Customers Happiness Centres in Umm Al Ramool, Al Barsha or Deira, by credit card via www.rta.
