BAR ON CIVILIAN TRAFFIC DURING SECURITY CONVOYS IN KASHMIR

> No more civilian traffic will be allowed in Jammu and Kashmir when convoys of security forces move on roads, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday. “It has been decided that whenever convoys of security forces move on roads, civilian traffic will not be allowed during that period for some time,” he told the media in Srinagar after meeting senior officers of various security agencies.

> The Home Minister said that the government has decided to review the security provided to separatist leaders in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of the attack. > India on Friday summoned Pakistan High Commission­er Sohail Mahmood and lodged a strong protest over the Pulwama terror attack.

> Shops, vehicles and other property belonging to a particular community came under attack in Poonch and Jammu, forcing authoritie­s to clamp curfew in Jammu, during a shutdown to denounce the attack.

> The BJP on Friday said the party has cancelled its political programmes in solidarity with the slain troopers.

> Hours before he was killed, CRPF trooper G. Subramania­n had asked his wife to provide medication for his father’s eyes, V. Ganapathi, Subramania­n’s father, said.

> Thousands of Muslims on Friday hit the roads in south Mumbai’s Bhendi Bazaar area, spontaneou­s shutdowns were observed in different parts of the city, and several groups and political parties protested against the terror attack.

> Parents of the suicide bomber told Reuters he joined the militant group after having been beaten by troops three years ago. “They [Dar and his friends] were stopped by the troops and beaten up and harassed,” Ghulam Hassan Dar said, adding that the students were accused of stonepelti­ng. “Since then, he wanted to join the militants.”
