The JSS International School was established in 2009 and follows the CISCE curriculum. The school not only ensures its students excel in academics but also goes a long way in developing their soft skills, shaping them into well-adjusted individuals with a focus on allround development of their personality.

Lata Nakra, PrincipaI, JSSIS, has been in the field of education for nearly 35 years, in different capacities across primary, middle, secondary and senior secondary schools. She has worked briefly in Mumbai (India) and Dubai for the last 33 years. “I believe in dispersed or distributed leadership. I am not ‘the’ leader of the school but ‘a’ leader of leaders. As principal, I

mainly obsess myself with creating a very positive culture where every child and every adult feels valued and respected, and a nurturing and engaging learning environment is designed to prepare students to be global citizens,” she notes in an interview with Khaleej Times.

Nakra stresses that at JSSIS, parents and teachers are partners in a child’s education. There is a clear, shared focus — targets are set for students in collaboration with parents. “The school sets high standards and has very high expectations from students, encouraging and motivating them to maximise their potential. JSSIS encourages students to work hard and at the same time cultivate a habit of creative thinking and desire to excel at every level with confidence, creativity and character, which enables students to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners.”

JSSIS aligns with its very simple but very profound vision — ‘Relating Education to Life’. “Preparation for college and career success requires much more than exposure to a robust curriculum. JSSIS helps students to develop soft skills through socialisation, learning the values, attitudes and actions through interactions with others, which are a priority now and in future. The school has several clubs and activities that provide students with a platform to interact with peers across the world on common projects,” Nakra adds.

JSS International School is a constituent of JSS Mahavidyapeetha (jssonline.org), one of India’s largest not for profit socio economic charitable trust that operates more than 350 educational institutions including medical science and technical universities in India. It has prominent presence in Mauritius and the USA as well.
