Special Olympics flame lights up Dubai for second day in a row

dubai — The Special Olympics Law Enforcemen­t Torch Run continued its journey across the UAE on day seven (10 March) as the Flame of Hope visited landmark locations in Dubai for the second day in a row.

Torch runners began the day at Dubai Design District, before moving on to Dubai Frame and City Walk. The Flame of Hope was then carried from The Palm Jumeirah, Al Seef Village, Dubai Festival City.

Arabian Radio Network studios also welcomed the Flame of Hope with Special Olympics Australia athlete, Sherrie Eadie, Law Enforcemen­t Officers and World Games’ spokespeop­le doing live interviews across Virgin Radio, Dubai Eye, Dubai 92, City 1016 and Al Arabiya, before heading to Sunmarke School, MBC and Dubai Mall Ice Rink. The closing ceremony of the day saw Law Enforcemen­t Officers and Special Olympics athletes run 1km to Global Village for a special ceremony. Hundreds of residents from Dubai took to the streets to show their support for the athletes ahead of the World Games.

Meanwhile, a number of widely acclaimed music stars and producers, including Grammy Award winner for The Greatest Showman Soundtrack, Music Producer, Greg Wells, and Honorary Executive Producer and 28-time Grammy Winner, Quincy Jones, have come together to create the official song for Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019.

The anthem, titled

will be revealed for the first time at the Opening Ceremony of the World Games where global superstar Avril Lavigne, whose song was the official anthem for the 2015 World Games, and Luis Fonsi, singer of global smash-hit single ‘Despacito’, will be among the personalit­ies performing the song.
