PPP, PML-N politicising Sharif’s health: Minister

-

APP lahore — Both the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) are doing politics on the health of former premier Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said.

“Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s statement that his father is not being taken care of is just a political statement,” Yasmin said at a news conference.

The health minister said that Sharif was being provided state-ofthe-art healthcare facilities on the instructions of the prime minister and Punjab chief minister. Yasmin said healthcare facilities offered by the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) are par excellence.

“Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif does not like healthcare facilities in Punjab, neither any other facility in the country, but 200 million Pakistanis are getting treatment at the same facilities,” she said.

Flanked by chief minister’s spokesman Dr Shahbaz Gill, Yasmin said Sharif was being prescribed medicines by Punjab’s senior most cardiologists and by his own personal physician Dr Adnan.

Responding to accusations of negligence by the government levelled by PPP leader Khurshid Shah vis-a-vis Sharif’s health, Dr Gill said there was only one doctor available for 3,500 persons in Sindh. He said 40 per cent of children and 60 per cent of women were facing food shortage in the province ruled by the PPP, adding that over 500 children have died in Thar for want of food.—
