dubai — Fun has a positive effect on kids’ motivation levels. Having fun while learning is the most ideal way for young kids to learn and stay curious.

This was given emphasis by Hind Al Mualla, Chief of Creativity, Happiness and Innovation at the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), during the launch of the Bug Bytes bus on Tuesday.

The new bus has been based on a unique concept of providing ‘technology teaching on the move’ to young children between three and four years old. It is a project of Innoventures Education’s Raffles Nurseries and Raffles Starters.

The Bug Bytes bus will visit various Raffles nurseries and schools across Dubai and will provide focused and high-quality preschool learning experiences. The customised air-conditioned bus is equipped with tablets, robotic kits, state-of-the-art interiors that include LCD screens, a 3D-scanner and a printer.

“This is a very creative and innovative way of learning,” Al Mualla told Khaleej Times. “Taking learning outside the classroom and bringing it into a different environment creates a sense of engagement for the young children. They become engaged with various learning tools and it sets the standards for learning.”

She added that launching the bus on International Happiness Day was also a good idea. “The children are very happy and they are learning while having fun.”

Mouza Al Suwaidi, chief of engagement at the KHDA; and Lina Jalouqa, public partnerships manager for Unicef, were present at the launch of the programme, along with Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education.
