What can you do for fun around here?
Micah Aguilar suggests a few places in Dubai
If you are searching for a place to hang out with some friends or planning for a family day out, UAE is filled with a number of activities for family and friends ranging from fun and brain-teasing escape rooms to shopping in an outdoor secondhand sale.
One of my favourite monthly outdoor events is The Dubai Flea Market. Not only is it an excellent opportunity to get some fresh air, but it is also a perfect place to visit if you want to shop on a budget or if you are looking to get rid of some your old things. Considering that it is usually organised in parks, I recommend taking advantage of the green and open space by having your own picnic or bringing something to play with like a football or a badminton racket. They also sometimes put up food stalls so you may not always have to bring your own food. However, if you are looking for a more calm and relaxing environment, then Alserkal Avenue is the perfect place for you. This art haven is a great place to appreciate art culture and to meet new people who share a common artistic interest. It is also a social hub in Dubai for families, art enthusiasts and furry friends! Other than its pet-friendly environment, you can even come and enjoy participating in various art programmes, educational workshops, talks and weekly social gatherings where people can enjoy a tour of art galleries, music and food.
Although, if you are not a big fan of art or walking around under the sun while shopping, there are plenty of other activities you can take part in without being exposed to the sun. One of these places is Jumble. If you like solving puzzles and challenging your physical strength, then this is the perfect place for you. Jumble is an indoor park in Dubai comprised with rooms that challenge groups to solve puzzles and test their ability to work as a team, so I suggest coming here with a big group. This is a great place to visit if you are looking to spend time with families and friends over the weekend while avoiding the heat. They also have a café inside the building, so if you ever want to take a break, there is always a place for you to relax and rest up before you start on another escape room. Another one of my personal favourite places to visit is Ski Dubai, a popular indoor activity in the UAE for those who want to experience snow in Dubai or if you are just trying to escape the heat. And lastly, if you are more of an adventurous type, you can also try going to Skydive Dubai. I think this is a fun place where you can learn and experience more about the thrill of skydiving or see experienced skydivers in action.
