dubai — Last year Dallas Stewart was aiming to go where no trainer has ever set foot in. The highly successful American trainer was hoping to make Forever Unbridled the first mare to win the iconic Dubai World Cup race.

“As a trainer, it will be one of my greatest wins, no doubt. But, you know, it will not be about me alone. It’s about the horse. If she wins this race, they will have to put her into the Hall of Fame,” he said last year.

Forever Unbridled, whose most famous win came at the 2017 Breeders’ Cup, put up a brave fight against the boys on the big night only to finish fifth.

“It was a good race last year. Not bad. She ran good last year, she ran hard,” Stewart told Khaleej Times at Meydan on Wednesday.

Now Stewart has returned to Meydan with Seeking The Soul who has won six of his 18 races.

“We have got a great horse this year coming for Saturday and hope it will be a very happy Saturday evening for us,” he said.

Seeking The Soul, the six-yearold son of Perfect Soul, will start from Gate 5 in Saturday’s biggest race at Meydan.

“It’s a good one,” Stewart said when asked about the draw.

With the Saeed bin Suroortrained Thunder Snow aiming to become the first horse to defend the Dubai crown and Satish Seemar’s formidable North America showing amazing form in his two starts this year, Stewart knows Seeking The Soul has to come up with the race of his life to win the coveted trophy.

“It’s a great race. There are many great contenders. These races are never easy. We need to show up and run hard to win,” the American trainer said.

Stewart is happy to be back at one of the most iconic races in the world.

“It fun. It’s nice to be here in Dubai again. They also invited my wife and kids. It’s good to come here with the family for a great event like the Dubai World Cup,” he said.
