Pakistan sees attack plot, India calls it preposterous

-

new delhi — India on Sunday rejected as “irresponsible and preposterous” Pakistan’s statement that New Delhi will attack it again and accused Islamabad of trying to whip up war hysteria in the region.

“India rejects the irresponsible and preposterous statement by the foreign minister of Pakistan with a clear objective of whipping up war hysteria in the region,” a Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said.

Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said India was planning to attack Pakistan after staging a “mishap” in J&K and this could happen between April 16 and 20. —

islamabad — Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday claimed the government had reliable intelligence that India was planning to carry out aggression against Pakistan between April 16 and 20.

Talking to reporters in Multan, Qureshi called on the international community to reprimand India for its irresponsible conduct.

He said the ambassadors of the permanent members of the UN Security Council in Islamabad had been informed about “the plan” two days ago.

“We have reliable intelligence that India has made a new scheme and the planning is underway and there are chances of another aggression against Pakistan and according to our information this action can take place between April 16 and 20,” he said.

“I am saying it with responsibility and I have a responsible position, I know each word I say would make headlines in the international press,” he said, stressing the reliability of his claim.

He did not elaborate on what evidence Pakistan had or how he could be so specific with the timing, but he said Prime Minister Imran Khan had agreed to share the information with the country.

“A new mishap could be staged in Indian-occupied Kashmir, just like (the) Pulwama. And its purpose will be to justify their (India’s) offensive against Pakistan and to increase diplomatic pressure against Islamabad.”

“If such a thing (action by India) happens, you can imagine the impact of the occurrence on the peace and stability of the region,” the foreign minister warned.

Qureshi said that he had consulted with Prime Minister Imran Khan and decided to make public the development in order to expose the Indian designs.

Qureshi also criticised the global community for remaining silent over Indian aggression against Pakistan on February 26.

He said that international powers did not reprimand India despite blatant violation of international laws on the part of India due to geopolitics.

“The international community, given the sensitivity of this flashpoint, should not remain silent,” the foreign minister stated, adding that the global community should and would have to play their role in this regard. —
