abu dhabi — More than 370,000 public employees who are registered as Fazaa members will be granted a discount of up to 40 per cent for various medical treatments and other health services, under the Ministry of Interior’s (MoI) latest social programme.

The MoI on Sunday announced the launch of ‘Fazaa Health Service’, a programme that will provide subsidised health services to employees working in 228 government and semi-government departments across the UAE, including those from the MoI.

The health service programme, which is part of the MoI’s Social Security Fund, is aimed at providing public employees — as well as UAE nationals and expats with Fazaa cards — with discounted treatment and health services that are not covered by their medical insurance.

Fazaa is a UAE rewards programme created by the MoI, which gives its members access to exclusive offers and services. Employees of the MoI and other government and semi-government departments are subscribed to Fazaa’s silver membership and they have the option to upgrade to gold or platinum.

Ahmed Mohammed Buharoon, managing director of Fazaa and director-general of the Social Security Fund at the MoI, said the ministry has partnered with over 112 private and semi-government hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, dietary shops, health clubs, gyms and others — in order to provide a host of treatments and other health services, such as fitness sessions, to government employees.

“The Fazaa Health Service has been launched to promote healthy living among the MoI’s staff and government employees,” Buharoon said.

“We would like government employees to get the treatment and other health services that they need at affordable prices, especially those that are not covered by their insurance cards. The government is keen to see all its employees happy.”
