Dh97M project to ease traffic on key Abu Dhabi road
abu dhabi — The Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has started construction works of the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road (Eastern Mangroves Road) Traffic Improvements Project for an estimated value of Dh97 million, post completing all basic works and preparations.
The road project starts from the Ministries Intersection to the Qasr Al Bahr Intersection, and will involve widening of the existing Sheikh Zayed Road from Dhafeer Street to Salama Bint Butti Street by adding a new lane, thereby increasing the number of lanes from four to five.
The aim is to reduce traffic congestion as the road is a major link connecting Abu Dhabi Island to the mainland.
Musanada said that it will carry out the road widening works without causing any obstruction to traffic movement along this vital route, as the currently used lanes will be maintained open without any closure.
The company said 600 workers are operating round the clock to deliver the project within 165 days as per the approved and agreed plan while complying with international specifications and standards.
Musanada assured that it is keen on meeting best traffic safety standards and observing eco-sustainability requirements, to achieve safe traffic flow.
On the other hand, the Department of Transport (DoT) stated that this project forms part of its vision to establish an integrated and sustainable transport for a better quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
DoT explained that the new expansion and traffic improvement works to the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Road will effectively ensure a smoother traffic flow, reduce congestion and efficiently enhance the traffic safety on the road.
The Integrated Transport Centre has urged all road users to comply with traffic safety instructions and show flexibility to facilitate project works on site.
