He is still our father, and there is no problem in ending this litigation peacefully.”

ras al khaimah — A father and his three sons stood trial at the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court for charges of assault and insult. According to the indictment sheet, the three boys have beaten up their father, used abusive language against him, assaulted their dad’s second wife, and insulted her.

The father, on the other hand, was charged with assaulting two of his sons and using swear words against them, his daughter and his first wife.

Court records showed that it all began when the father, a Gulf national, refused to let his sons, daughter and first wife move to his new house where his second wife, an Asian, lives.

The children insisted that it was the right of their mother to move to the new house. The father, to deny such a right, has allegedly divorced his first wife.

The three sons, according to a prosecution statement, threatened to kick their father out of his new house, while two of them said they would block their dad’s second wife from entering the place.

Threats from the second and third sons reportedly poured in

via mobile messages. “They have sent very indecent and disgraceful words to us using their cell phones,” the new wife told the court.

But the boys said their father also sent them insults.

While all the defendants denied the charges in court, the chief judge proposed an amicable settlement, to which the sons agreed. “He is still our father, and there is no problem in ending this litigation in a peaceful way, especially during the Year of Tolerance,” they said.

However, the father refused the proposal and told the court that he was shocked to be disgraced and beaten up by his own kids. “I have brought them up and fed them but got ‘rewarded’ with this insult and assault. I can never insult them because I will be insulting myself,” he said.

Lawyers of both sides requested some time to evaluate the case and prepare the pleadings, while the court ordered the case adjourned for a week to April 10.
