dubai — More than seven million guests have visited the Global Village throughout the 166-day run of its 23rd season, setting a new record for the festival park, a jump of over 16 per cent from the previous season.

Closing its gates last Saturday, Global Village ended what it described as its “biggest season yet”, completing over Dh3 billion worth of business transactions, after hosting more than 3,500 outlets showcasing the cultures of 78 countries.

“We are proud to be the reason for the smiles of over seven million guests who visited us. Their happiness of our guests is our utmost priority and we are delighted to have scored 9.1 over 10 in our guests happiness index, despite the increase in guest numbers this season,” said Bader Anwahi, CEO of Global Village.

“We are honoured to lead the entertainment industry in the UAE and are now well positioned to take our place among the world’s leading entertainment destinations.”

With its 23rd season, the park has achieved increases and improvements in all categories of evaluation, as compared to previous editions. It showcased the largest number of outlets and offerings in shopping, entertainment and dining, and hosted the biggest festivals, concerts, shows and events.

Green spaces were expanded, and so were parking lots. Additional seating

areas were also built and new flat cross-overs replaced bridges.

One of the well-loved highlights of the season would have to be the food and beverage options from 24 restaurants and cafes and more than 140 kiosks spread out across the park. It also hosted the world’s first multi-cultural floating market, bringing popular cuisines from boats, bank-side kiosks and tuk-tuks.

The season has also provided an international street food experience, from the Far East to the Middle East and from Asia to Europe, Africa and Americas.
