Dubai launches Ramadan initiatives for all
dubai — The upcoming holy month of Ramadan is bound to be filled with compassion and the spirit of tolerance, as the first edition of Ramadan Dubai is set to take place throughout the period.
The Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai (IACAD) on Tuesday launched Ramadan Dubai 2019, and presented a preview of what the new event would be about.
Ramadan Dubai 2019 will aim to spread the values of Islam among people of different communities. It seeks to promote the principles underlined in the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), through lectures and various sessions that will
be conducted by Islamic scholars.
“The holy month of Ramadan is the most suitable period to inculcate the value of tolerance for different religions through peaceful coexistence, respect and acceptance of others within the UAE,” said Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, director-general of IACAD and the chairman of the higher committee of Ramadan Dubai, at a Press conference
on Tuesday.
“This event will establish a connection between various sects and nationalities by giving people a fair idea about the values and customs of Islam and by showing them that Islam is free of violence and extremism,” he added.
On the 19th day of Ramadan, which coincides with the death anniversary of the UAE’s founding
father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, a big event will be launched across the emirate. A website, along with a smart application, will also be launched for Ramadan Dubai so that residents can be guided on the events and activities, said Sheikha Al Marri, chairwoman of the committee on information and communication.
