90% discount at Union Coop this Ramadan

dubai — Heads up, bargain hunters: The Union Coop is set to offer a 90 per cent discount on up to 25,000 of its food and non-food products throughout the upcoming Ramadan. The promo will be rolled out in all its branches nationwide, and the discounted goods will also be sold VAT-free.

The big sale falls within a series of campaigns that the firm will launch in 60 days, Khalid Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop, said on Monday.

“The Union Coop Ramadan plan includes 10 promotional campaigns, worth Dh110 million,” Al Falasi said.

Expecting sales of Dh650 million this Ramadan, Al Falasi said they have included a wide variety of products in the promo, considering the diversity of the UAE population. He said customers don’t have to worry about supply as the Union Coop is expecting to sell 70 million products throughout the holy month.

“We have also agreed with suppliers to deliver all products round the clock and for seven days a week,” he added. Some of the Union Coop’s branches will be open from 6.30am to 2am the next day, and customers can also shop from their homes through the supermarket’s e-platform.

Additional benefits and discounts are also available for customers who would use the Union Coop smart app, Al Falasi said.

Overall, the Union Coop is in good shape, business-wise — with high profits recorded in the first quarter of the year, the CEO said.

“Despite a 7.5-per-cent drop in the price of several products, Union Coop has secured net profits of Dh138.5 million in the first quarter of this year,” he said.
