New Sharjah partnership signed to promote waste recycling
sharjah — A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) with the Middle East’s sustainability pioneer, Bee’ah.
Signed by Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, SCCI’s directorgeneral, and Khaled Al Huraimel, group chief executive officer at the Bee’ah, the MoU aims to enhance the capabilities of both sides to implement the best environmental practices, including eco-friendly waste recycling and disposal methods.
Under the MoU, Bee’ah will provide waste containers in different parts of SCCI premises to encourage environment-friendly practices and promote the culture of recycling.
Additionally, mutual visits will be organised to learn about the applied experiences by both sides in the environmental protection field.
The partnership comes as part of the concerted efforts to enhance cooperation and exchange knowledge and experiences in terms of environmental activities and social responsibility initiatives. Al Awadi said it’s also part of a series of SCCI efforts and initiatives to enhance the role of the industry and business sector in bolstering the green policies and sustainable development strategies in Sharjah.
He emphasised the SCCI’s commitment to providing all necessities to activate the MoU’s provisions and help address the environmental challenges in terms of the waste disposal.
He added that a dedicated team will be following up on the initiatives, ensuring that necessary facilities and services are provided.
Stressing the importance of social responsibility initiatives, Al Huraimel said: “Collaborating with entities in the private and public sectors to find end-toend, innovative solutions to environment issues is at the heart of what we do.
“Our programmes and initiatives aim to effectively serve the needs of communities across the UAE and generate positive impacts on the environment, in order to pave the way for a more sustainable quality of life.
“The MoU with SCCI is a testament to our commitment to supporting entities in achieving their environment goals; adopting green policies and sustainable development strategies; and encouraging a sustainable culture in the workplace.”
