Health professionals to assist 500 patients at isolation centres
dubai — The medical wing of Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has offered its health services at one of the Covid-19 isolation camps supported by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
Through its strong database of volunteers, the PAD medical wing has managed to assist the DHA authorities with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
“These healthcare professionals are serving at the Covid-19 centre with around 500 patients at one of the isolation facilities of the DHA. The community centre sent out an appeal for healthcare volunteers two weeks back,” said Dr Nighat Aftab, president of the medical wing.
“Around200peoplecameforward to offer their services to a country that is a second home to Pakistanis. As healthcare professionals, it is our responsibility to serve our people in this hour of need,” she said.
“We are proud to say that as a community organisation, we have adopted a unit which can serve approximately 500 infected people at one time,” noted Dr Faisel Ikram, president of PAD, who is personally volunteering at the same facility.
“These are testing times, we believe in growing together and this is a perfect gesture from the Pakistani community to show solidarity to the UAE; the country which has provided livelihoods to so many Pakistanis. The members of PAD will join hands and fulfil all the requirements. The community has always believed in social cohesion and tolerance,” added Dr Ikram.
“We will continue to do whatever we can to support the authorities to beat Covid-19. Volunteering is the backbone of the PAD,” asserted Dr Ikram, urging the Pakistani community to come forward and support the cause.
Food packs given to needy
More than 1,500 people across all nationalities have also benefitted from the food drive, distributed by the PAD. “We are overwhelmed with calls every 15 minutes, receiving countless
requests for food packages from across all emirates. We are doing our best to reach out to each one of them. Aas we speak, over 1,500 food packages have been dispatched,” said Rizwan Fancy, director welfare at PAD.
“We have no borders or barriers in this time of need. We ensure the person is needy and is a deserving candidate. Our teams have delivered essential items in all emirates,” noted Fancy, who plans to send his teams to Umm Al Quwain, Al Ain and Ras Al Khaimah this week.
The food package includes flour, rice, milk powder, sugar, black tea, oil, salt, and three kinds of lentils which can suffice from three weeks to a month.
