THIS RAMADAN, EXPRESS GRATITUDE

As we begin the holy month, your peers talk about three important virtues to follow

-

Do charity work

They say that if you do a good deed it does come back to you. Recently, when I was picking up the newspaper from my doorstep, it got me thinking about the person who does this job. Let’s all be kind to people, who are working so hard even in these testing times. While we live in air-conditioned rooms, there are people who have no bed to sleep on. When we are just waking up from a good night’s sleep, some have already started their workday, so that we get the newspaper on time. One day, my sister Vibha Lakshmi and I were playing with a balloon each, a boy on the street was looking at us longingly, so, I went outside and gave both the balloons to him. Little acts of kindness matter.

Hold on to hope

Life is a mystery on its own, Uncovering it is impossible,

There are a few things that tell us to quit, But if you look closely,

More tell you to stay alive,

Look for them and you will find hope.

It is the only thing that keeps most of us going. —Thaha PACE International School, Sharjah

Be humane

Every day, in the media, all I see is pictures of people who have lost their lives in violent attacks in various parts of the world. This made me realise that the word peace is non-existent on this planet. It’s not peace that is lacking, but humanity. In today’s world, all we need is a little bit of humanity. If we are compassionate, the world will definitely be a peaceful place to live in. Let’s be human and humane. —Hena Babu GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai
