dubai – Another 530 Pakistanis were repatriated from Dubai on three special flights late on Tuesday, the Pakistan Consulate Dubai said on Wednesday.

Two flights were operated to Multan and one to Karachi. So far, 2,130 Pakistani citizens have been repatriated from the UAE through 10 special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights. This excludes prisoners and people who were repatriated through the UAE carriers flydubai and Emirates.

Around 30 repatriation flights have been scheduled from different GCC countries from May 1 to 10, with 17 of them flying from the UAE. The PIA will operate 11 flights while the UAE carriers will operate the remaining six flights from the UAE, according to Zulfiqar Bukhari, Pakistan’s assistant to prime minister for expats affairs.

Bukhari on Wednesday thanked the UAE after the third batch of 14 metric tonnes of medical and food supplies reached Islamabad.

“Thank you for caring about our Covid-19 frontline heroes. I pray this people-to-people relationship between our two countries prospers and flourishes,” said Bukhari.

In addition, the consulate announced that it distributed ration among 13,200 Pakistani needy families and individuals in Dubai and Northern Emirates during the past month. It said the ration distribution will continue in the coming weeks.

“We convey our gratitude to those who donated ration and the UAE authorities for their cooperation in this regard,” it said.
