WASTE-FREE HOLY MONTH

Amid such an exceptional time, when resources are scarce and not everybody gets to enjoy simple comforts, going waste-free makes a world of difference. Learn how you can make the most of what you have this holy month.

The UAE’s ‘10 million meals’ drive has just received a donation of one million apples — showing how in-kind contributions can go a long way at this critical time.

The apple donation of Farzana Trading, an importer and distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables in UAE market, is among the millions worth of food products that have poured in for the country’s largest meal distribution campaign.

Instead of letting extra food and meals go to waste, those who have more of them have been encouraged to share, donate and help the UAE in feeding the less fortunate, especially those hit by the pandemic.

Within the first week of the drive, in-kind donations of more than 163,000 meals were contributed. And in such a short span of time, the ‘10 million meals’ campaign crossed its target, receiving donations for over 11 million meals.

Mohamed Hassan Al Sherif, chairman of Farzana Trading, said: “The UAE has offered an opportunity for everyone with ambitions to grow. The campaign presents an opportunity to return the favour and contribute to the annual growth of philanthropy.”

For in-kind contributions, donors may provide packaged food supplies or arrange food parcels for distribution by contacting the campaign’s team on the toll-free number 8004006.
