Balochistan is future of Pakistan: Bajwa
rawalpindi — Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Balochistan is the future of Pakistan and it is army’s duty to assist its government and the people towards a peaceful and prosperous region.
The army chief stated this during a visit to Quetta where he attended a briefing at the Headquarters Southern Command. He also visited the garrison quarantine facility for Covid-19 and interacted with troops involved in Covid relief activities, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
General Bajwa was briefed in detail on the security situation, operational preparedness of the formation and border management, including fencing along Pakistan-Afghanistan and Pakistan-Iran borders.
The army chief was apprised about the army’s assistance to civil administration in fighting the pandemic and other measures for socio-economic uplift of the area.
During his visit to the garrison quarantine facility, Gen Bajwa appreciated the arrangements and facilities established as per health guidelines.
While interacting with officers and men, the army chief lauded their dedication and professionalism. Gen Bajwa directed all commanders to reach out to the people in far-flung areas of Balochistan to help mitigate challenges faced by masses due to Covid-19.
Earlier, on arrival in Quetta, Gen Bajwa was received by Commander of Southern Command Lieutenant-General Waseem Ashraf.
