A TRIP TO OUTER SPACE

- abhijith PrabhakaraN iNdia iNterNatioNal School, Sharjah letters@youngtimes.com

One day I had a dream. An adventurous dream of me going to space. I was an astronaut working at NASA. I was all set to go on a mission to explore space and land on moon. The date for the trip was fixed. As days passed, the excitement increased.

Finally, the day arrived. The countdown began, 10, 9, 8, 7... My heart was beating faster due to the adrenaline rush. My curiosity to see what’s on the other side was increasing. The last call was finally made and everyone at the station went silent. And off I went, high up in the sky to the marvelous world of twinkling stars.

After a few days, I landed on the moon. I was eager to know more about the moon, but I was anxious too. Wearing my space suit, I walked on the surface of the moon, exploring everything around me. I was amazed looking at what was in front of me. Before this, I had only seen this wondrous thing from earth. I kept looking around, and spotted a moon rock, which I kept in the findings pocket, allotted by the space station.

I continued my journey and suddenly I saw a human-like figure near a crater. The mysterious and scary figure was up to something. I could not see anything clearly. But I was very curious, so I moved closer to the figure. When I reached near it, I immediately knew it was an alien. I ran towards the spacecraft to escape. When I reached the spacecraft, I was stunned looking at another alien.

Suddenly, I heard my father calling out to me. I woke up and realised this was only a dream. I was terrified because of what I saw, but that did not discourage me from following my dream of wanting to become an astronaut.
