Industries allowed to operate with protocols in Punjab
lahore — The Punjab government on Wednesday allowed industries, factories and establishments to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week “subject to adoption of health guidelines and protocols”.
The same has been specified for establishments and businesses related to the construction sector, The Express Tribune reported. On August
2, the provincial government had restricted businesses to work from
Monday to Friday from
9am to 7pm.
The order will come into effect immediately.
Meanwhile, coronavirus pandemic took away four more lives in the province over the last 24 hours while the number of cases reached 93,571 after registration of 235 new cases. According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Wednesday, the total number of deaths stood at 2157.
Sindh reported 357 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 122,373. Another 14 people died from the disease, according to a notification. The provincial death toll now stands at 2245, according to the notification.
Meanwhile, the countrywide tally of Covid-19 cases stood at 281,493 with 93,571 cases reported by Punjab, 122,373 by Sindh, 34,324 by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,780 by Balochistan, 2218 by Gilgit Baltistan, 15,122 by Islamabad and 2105 by Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
