Chaudhri named Foreign Office spokesperson

The government on Wednesday appointed Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri as new spokesperson of the Foreign Office. Chaudhri replaces Aisha Farooqui, who is reportedly proceeding on a training course. Chaudhri is also holding the charge of directorgeneral of the South Asia directorate at the Foreign Office. He will hold both assignments simultaneously. Chaudhri had at the South Asia directorate succeeded Dr Mohammed Faisal, who too held both portfolios till he was posted as ambassador to Germany.
