Carbon-neutral format to power Wetex, Solar Show

DUBAI — The Water, Energy, Technology and Environmen­t Exhibition (Wetex) and Dubai Solar Show will bring the largest internatio­nal organisati­ons to demonstrat­e their latest developmen­ts and technologi­cal solutions in water, energy, sustainabi­lity and innovation, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa.

Se to be held virtually this year from October 26 to 28, this is the first virtual 3D carbon-neutral exhibition in the Middle East and North Africa. The virtual exhibition has all the opportunit­ies of a physical exhibition, as well as eliminatin­g geographic­al limitation­s for the attendees and exhibitors from around the world.

The exhibition is an ideal platform for local and internatio­nal companies and organisati­ons to promote their products, services and innovative solutions in the water, energy, sustainabi­lity and innovation sectors, in addition to sharing best practices and expertise from around the world.

Al Tayer said: “We consider the sponsors and supporters of Wetex and Dubai Solar Show as our partners who have consolidat­ed the position of this economic and environmen­tal event on the global map of specialise­d exhibition­s. They play a role in accelerati­ng the shift towards a green economy in the UAE and the region,” said Al Tayer.

Fifty-five local and internatio­nal companies and organisati­ons have announced their sponsorshi­p for Wetex and the Solar Show. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai is the diamond sponsor; Siemens, Acwa Power, ABB and Hitachi ABB Power Grids are the titanium sponsors, while Dubai Media Incorporat­ed (DMI) is the strategic media sponsor. There are 13 strategic sponsors, six platinum sponsors, 26 gold sponsors and five key media partners, including Khaleej Times.

“Our participat­ion in Wetex is a perfect opportunit­y to showcase the RTA’s initiative­s, achievemen­ts and plans towards achieving a sustainabl­e green environmen­t in all operations and services... the RTA managed significan­t savings in the use of energy in 2019. It saved 39.6 gigawatt-hours, 45.2 million gallons of water, 15.5 million litres of gasoline and 700,000 litres of diesel. In gas emissions, it saved 56.95 tonnes of carbon equivalent,” said Nasser Abu Shehab, CEO of strategy and corporate governance at the RTA.

Saif Humaid Al Falasi, group CEO of Emirates National Oil Company, said Wetex is a leading platform that has, over the past 21 years, brought together industry experts and leading players to showcase cutting edge technologi­es and innovation in the power and utility sector.

Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “We intend to use this event to cast light on our latest ground-breaking solutions in district cooling, highlight the advantages of energy-efficient and eco-friendly district cooling services and stress green buildings concepts.”
