dubai — A Dubai university’s pioneering Covid-19 awareness drive has now reached one million participants from around the world.
Introduced by the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), the Community Immunity Ambassador Programme features online courses that provide crucial information on navigating new-normal life in the time of Covid-19.
Since the initiative was launched in March, the virtual sessions have drawn phenomenal response from all over the world, particularly the Middle East, South and East Asia and North America.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, MBRU’s chancellor and chairperson of the Board of Trustees, said these awareness programmes have been supporting the country’s efforts to fight the spread of the virus.
“The Community Immunity Ambassador Programme embodies MBRU’s ethos of developing innovative solutions that benefit communities, while adding value to the UAE’s contribution to global efforts in containing the virus,” said Sheikh Ahmed.

Four courses
The programme’s first course titled ‘Let’s Break the Chain of Covid-19’ details the way in which infectious diseases are transmitted. It also outlines solutions to break the chain.
The second one guides frontline volunteers with detailed information about how the virus spreads and what precautions are needed to protect oneself and others.
The third teaches specific techniques to increase self-awareness, normalise emotions, and support overall wellbeing.
Following the success of the programme, the MBRU has launched a fourth course for dental professionals.
