FREE PARKING ANNOUNCED

IN THREE EMIRATES

dubai — Transport authoritie­s in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah have announced free parking at paid zones during the National Day break.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipali­ties and Transport in Abu Dhabi on Sunday said parking spaces will be free of charge during the Commemorat­ion Day and National Day holidays, starting from Tuesday to 7.59am on Saturday.

The ITC has urged the public to adhere to Mawaqif regulation­s and not to park their vehicles in prohibited areas or block the traffic flow.

Motorists have also been reminded to adhere to Mawaqif regulation­s regarding resident parking from 9pm to 8am to avoid being fined. The fine for parking in residents-only parking spaces is Dh200 and the car is towed four hours after the ticket has been issued.

Dubai

All public parking areas in Dubai, except for multi-level parking terminals, will be free of charge during the holiday from Tuesday to Thursday.

Sharjah

The Sharjah Municipali­ty has announced free public parking in most areas of the emirate

from Tuesday until Thursday. The gesture is in celebratio­n of the UAE National Day.

Some areas are not included in the free parking scheme.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazien, Director of Public Parking Department, said municipal in

spectors will monitor parking lots to ensure parking spaces are not misused.

This is to prevent violations such as double or wrong parking; or parking in emergency vehicles’ slots.
