His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-president and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, had launched the drive on April 11. Meanwhile, donations kept pouring in from all over the country towards the humanitarian initiative. On Tuesday, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH) announced a massive donation of Dh20 million to the

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign.

Earlier, on Monday Dubai Electricity and Water (Dewa) had announced a donation of Dh10 million, while etisalat had also pledged to contribute

5 per cent of all food orders placed on its

Smiles app, towards the drive. Etisalat app users can donate to the campaign in cash or through Smiles points in their accounts, which they earn with every purchase while using the app.

Etisalat will also change its mobile network logo to featurew ‘100 Million

Meals’ to encourage users to donate.

All the donations will go towards providing food parcels for disadvantaged individuals and families across 20 countries in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) is teaming up with the United Nations World Food Programme, the Food Banking Regional Network and charity organizations in beneficiary countries to ensure food parcels are delivered to the doorsteps of impoverished families.

Every AED1 donated will help provide one meal for beneficiaries in targeted countries including Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Pakistan, Angola, Uganda and Egypt.
