Hundreds of inmates pardoned
The UAE’S Rulers have pardoned hundreds of prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha. In Dubai, 520 inmates were released after a pardon was granted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-president and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The move gives prisoners the opportunity to start a new life and ease their families hardships, said Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, attorneygeneral of Dubai. Legal procedures will start immediately to reunite them with their families this Eid.
His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, also pardoned 225 prisoners who have shown good conduct at punitive and reformative institutions in the emirate.
Maj-gen Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-chief of the Sharjah Police, expressed sincere appreciation for the humanitarian gesture, saying this would certainly bring happiness to the inmates’ families.
In Umm Al Quwain, a number of prisoners serving various sentences were pardoned by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain.
His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, also ordered the release of 174 prisoners in th emirate.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, called on the authorities to take all necessary measures to process the release, in close coordination with the RAK Police.
