Bremont enters uae watch market
It has named watches a er Second World War fighter planes and even made one model using wooden pieces from Lord Nelson’s 18th century flagship HMS Victory. In a world dominated by Swiss makers, it is a British watch company. And now, thanks to a tie-in with the Rivoli Group, it is coming to the UAE. From this month, Bremont watches will be available through four Rivoli stores in Dubai
“Now Bremont is 10 years old, it has got to the stage where it needs to think about going global, but there has been a gulf – no pun intended – in our reach when it comes to the Middle East,” says Bremont co-founder Nick English. “We actually thought our watches were not bling enough to sell well here but there is more and more interest in the engineering aspect among watch fans in the UAE.”
“The Middle East is a very pro-British market and there’s regard for the British heritage in beautifully-made things.”
Certainly, when Bremont recently launched its Victory watch –on the decks of HMS Victory in Portsmouth,on the south coast of England, a number of its UAE-based customers flew over for the occasion. Not that Bremont is all for those above the waves – its latest model, the Supermarine 2000, can withstand depths of 2,000 metres. For a list of Bremont stockists, see www.rivoligroup.com
