ABOUT A GIRL

-

Toni Malt was responsible for the subtle and artful make-up in this month’s fashion shoot, About a Girl. Born and raised in Germany, Malt has lived in London and New York and is currently based in Dubai. She has worked with some of the most highprofile fashion magazines in the world. Her work is being showcased in a new book, out this December, called Transform, where she creates 60 different looks on one model, teaching advanced make-up techniques such as adhering glitter, freestyling with DIY brushes and applying androgynous make-up. For this month’s Luxury shoot, Malt went with a fresh, minimal, nomake-up look that was in keeping with the nostalgic 1990s-informed theme of the fashion editorial. Here, she offers her top five tips for recreating the look. 1 Preparation is key to achieving a great no-make-up make-up look. Exfoliate the skin and apply a very nourishing, thick moisturiser such as Charlotte’s Magic Cream by Charlotte Tilbury. This will allow the foundation to truly merge with the skin and result in a beautiful, even and healthy complexion. 2 Choose a sheer glowing or illuminating foundation and use minimal product. The goal should be to enhance your skin, not to cover it. Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser and Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation are great foundations to achieve this with. 3 Stick to creams and stay away from powders. Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate is a wonderful cream product that can be used both to contour and highlight the face, as well as to gently contour the eyes in the crease and below. Don’t forget less is more for this look. 4 Highlight the inner rim with a shiny white eyeliner (not a matte one), such as Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in white, which has a pearl white sheen. This not only removes redness, but also adds a very subtle sparkle to your eyes. 5 Make sure the eyelashes are well- defined and have plenty of volume. Opt for a beautiful brown mascara.
