For spring/summer 2017, Dolce & Gabbana sent models down the runway sporting oversized bows, bejewelled crowns, and mountains of flowers and fruit piled high on their heads. This was statement headgear at its biggest, brightest and boldest.

From Maison Margiela to Anya Hindmarch, a whole range of designers incorporated bandannas in their spring/summer shows. At Louis Vuitton, this wide band with braided detailing created a look that was dark, tough – and a little bit futuristic.

Marchesa paired its ethereal gowns with slicked-back locks held in place with gemencrusted clips. You can copy the look with faux stones, but really, in this instance, only the finest jewels will do.

Hair accessories at Elie Saab’s spring/summer 2017 haute couture presentation were, as is his wont, ultra-feminine and sophisticated, ranging from ultra-wide satin-sheen headbands to tiara-like bands befitting a princess.

Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, missed no opportunity to adorn his models with unconventional headgear during Gucci’s spring/summer 2017 show, but it was the voluminous, turban-like headwraps – which channelled a bohemian 1970s vibe – that stole the show.
