BANG & OLUFSEN
Bang & Olufsen has released its latest speaker, the Beosound Balance, which is ideal for those spending lots of time indoors. Designed to fit seamlessly into a home interior, it was made in collaboration with Benjamin Hubert from Layer, the British industrial design studio, and is dubbed as being “interior-first and shelf-friendly”. Made with a solid oak base and knitted textile-covered speaker, the clean Scandinavian aesthetic hides a wealth of technology. Approaching the speaker will activate it, causing the interface to light up, using light-trough aluminium technology. Once activated, small hand gestures will control the volume, change the track or even pause the music. The same movements can also be used to access playlists and favourite tracks. Once the correct settings are achieved, simply walking away will close down the interface, dimming the lights and returning the speaker to its understated, neutral look. It is designed to be visually pleasing, but no compromise has been made on speaker quality, with the Beosound Balance offering controllable sound through seven carefully positioned speaker drivers. Thanks to these, the listener can choose between room-filling or more precise directional sound. www.bang-olufsen.com
