More ERC aid reaches Yemenis
ABU DHABI // The Emirates Red Crescent has offered food aid to the inhabitants of Mokha town in Yemen, in line with its efforts to provide sustained humanitarian aid to the nation’s needy.
ERC delivered 3,000 parcels, including basic food items, to the recently liberated Mokha.
The beneficiaries thanked the UAE leadership, Government and the people, as well as the ERC, for their efforts in meeting the needs of the Yemeni people.
With the delivery, the number of parcels dispatched by the ERC to Mokha and the western coast reached 27,000. Last month, Fahad Al Menhali, Yemeni ambassador to the UAE, said the UAE’s initiatives in his country were making a difference in its development and reconstruction.
“They have enabled fastpaced improvement in the humanitarian situation in areas liberated from the rebels.” The ERC’s humanitarian operations are focused on relief, health care and education, and its presence in the areas that saw the most development has earned it a prominent place among humanitarian agencies operating in the country, he added. Dr Hamdan Al Mazrouei, ERC chairman of the board, said that the UAE, led by President Sheikh Khalifa, prioritised the deliveries based on the humanitarian approach of Founding Father Sheikh Zayed, who “spared no effort” to back the Yemeni people.
