Plan for improving women’s role unveiled

DUBAI // New plans for improving Emirati women’s participat­ion in the workforce were announced yesterday by Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed.

Dubai Women Establishm­ent’s plan for this year to 2021 involves four pillars and was announced as part of the organisati­on’s 10th anniversar­y, reported Wam, the state news agency. “We are very proud of what we’ve achieved in enhancing the representa­tion of Emirati women across various industries,” said Sheikha Manal, president of the Gender Balance Council, president of Dubai Women Establishm­ent, and wife of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidenti­al Affairs. “DWE has played an important role in Dubai’s ongoing success story by highlighti­ng women in leadership and reducing the gender gap, and through our ongoing efforts in supporting key national priorities such as youth, happiness and innovation.” The establishm­ent’s plans to provide ideas for improving Emirati women’s workforce par- ticipation, study engagement of Emirati women in various fields, create partnershi­ps in the public and private sectors to increase Emirati women’s representa­tion, and develop training programmes. Mona Al Marri, chairwoman of the Dubai Women Establishm­ent, said implementi­ng the plan would require collaborat­ion between companies and government agencies. “By incorporat­ing innovation into our corporate values and mission, the strategic plan will help us to continue enhancing the status of Emirati women, strengthen­ing their role in decision-making positions, and supporting the UAE Government’s vision of achieving gender balance.”
