DUBAI // A man who helped to hide the body of a 19-year-old prostitute murdered by a compatriot has had his prison sentence tripled. Dubai Criminal Court sentenced three Pakistani men, aged 26, 27 and 37, to one year in jail after convicting them of hiding the body. The 37-yearold appealed the verdict and was sentenced to three years in prison by the Dubai Court of Appeal. The woman’s body was dumped in Umm Al Quwain and was found by a municipality worker on the morning of June 26.

Police were able to identify the dead woman as a prostitute and investigations revealed she had been killed for running away from a client. “Our investigations confirmed the woman was brought to the country to work in the sex industry and that she was killed in a building in Al Raffa,” a policeman said, adding that the three men were arrested on September 30 last year while a fourth, who is believed to have killed the woman, remained at large.

During interrogations, the three said they received a call from the other man at about 3am telling them about the incident and asking for their help to get rid of the body.

One of them said that they took a plastic bag and wrapped up the woman’s corpse. They offered the building’s security guard sex with prostitutes if he kept the cameras off them while they removed the body. They then drove to UAQ and ditched the body. The fourth man left the country the same day.

The three Pakistanis will be deported after serving their sentences.
