Life in Cyprus writ large
Children play beside a wall with graffiti depicting life in Cyprus in the ethnically divided capital city of Nicosia yesterday. Nicos Anastasiades, the country’s president, and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci will reconvene for peace talks at a conference in Switzerland tomorrow. Cyprus has been divided since Turkish troops invaded and occupied the territory in 1974. The key issues at the summit will be security, territorial dividing lines and the process for allowing displaced people to reclaim lost homes and property.
