Ledecky leads US to gold in women’s relay
Katie Ledecky earned a second gold medal yesterday at the world aquatic championships in Budapest by helping the United States win the women’s 4x100m freestyle final. Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom had set a world record of 51.71 seconds in the opening leg, becoming the first woman to break the 52-second barrier. The the previous record was 52.06 seconds set by Australia’s Cate Campbell in 2016. The United States team finished in three minutes, 31.72 seconds with Australia taking silver at 0.29 seconds back and the Netherlands earning the bronze at 0.92 seconds back.
