American Express has extended its Centurion Lounge network with the opening of a new facility for travellers in Hong Kong airport yesterday.

The 8,000 square feet lounge, located in Terminal 1, is the credit card provider’s eighth airport lounge, and its first in Asia.

The new lounge will include a buffet, a complimentary bar, private phone areas, a meeting room, computer bar and shower suites.

A private area, exclusively available for American Express Centurion members and their guests, will offer access to a dedicated member services professional to help with any specific travel and reservation requests, and also offers an a la carte menu designed by Michelin star chef, Lau Yiu Fai of Yan Toh Heen at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

“We are excited to introduce our first Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong, which continues to be a top destination for our card members and an epicentre for contemporary culture,” said Janey Whiteside, executive vice president and general manager of global charge products, benefits & services, American Express.

The Philadelphia lounge features workspaces, power outlets and access to high-speed Wi-Fi

The company is due to launch its ninth lounge, a 6,300 sq ft facility, in Philadelphia airport towards the end of this month.

The Philadelphia lounge will feature food options designed by four-time James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Solomonov, floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive internal and external views as well dedicated workspaces, power outlets, private phone areas, comfortable seating and access to high-speed Wi-Fi.

“We are extremely honoured to be a part of the American Express Centurion Lounge family and excited to help make their newest lounge an oasis of hospitality for Philadelphia travellers,” said chef Michael Solomonov. “It’s such an exciting time to be a Philadelphian, and I am grateful for the opportunity to show visitors to our historic town what the City of Brotherly Love is all about.”

The two new lounges complement existing Centurion Lounges in Miami, Las Vegas, Dallas/Fort Worth, New York LaGuardia, San Francisco, Seattle and Houston Bush.
