Two-time major champion Lincicome ‘extremely delighted’ for her Dubai debut

American’s Brittany Lincicome will tee it up at the Omega Dubai Ladies Classic for the first time next month.

The two-time major champion, long known as one of the biggest hitters in the game, has been confirmed for the December 6-9 event, which marks the conclusion of the Ladies European Tour season.

Lincicome will join veteran Laura Davies, Women’s British Open champion Kim In-kyung and England’s Charley Hull at the Emirates Golf Club. Norway’s Suzann Pettersen has had to withdraw from the tournament through injury after confirming her entry last week.

Nicknamed “Bam-Bam” because of her length off the tee, Lincicome will look to use that to her advantage on debut in Dubai. “I am extremely delighted by the opportunity to compete in Dubai,” she said.

“It will be fun playing at the Majlis, a course that I have seen on TV many times. I am happy with my game, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I’ll take things as they come, step-bystep. I have a great respect for players on the Ladies European Tour and their competitiveness is second to none. I’ll have to be at the top of my game since the tournament attracts a top-class field every year.”

One of the most recognisable faces on the LPGA Tour, Lincicome has seven victories on that circuit, including two majors.

In 2009, she triumphed at the Kraft Nabisco Championship by one stroke before winning the same tournament, then rebranded as the Ana Inspiration, six years later in a play-off from Stacy Lewis.

Lincicome is a winner in the United States this season too, when she took the title at the Pure-Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic in January.

Then, she defeated 2011 Dubai Ladies Masters champion Lexi Thompson in a playoff. David Spencer, the Dubai Ladies Classic tournament director, said: “Brittany is an exceptional talent who combines power off the tee with a soft touch around the greens, making her one of the most successful golfers of modern era.

“We really look forward to seeing her play in Dubai. I wish her the best and hope her allround game will keep the fans entertained.”
