▷▷▷ Wenger would like to see football go the sumo way after Manchester fiasco Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says over-celebrating victories can be “a little bit offensive” and offered the example of sumo wrestling as the right way to do it. Wenger, 68, was responding to reports of a post-match fracas following Sunday’s Manchester derby after Pep Guardiola’s City won 2-1 at Old Trafford. Wenger said he saw a different approach to winning during his time in Japan, where he managed J-Grampus Eight. “When I was in Japan I admired sumo,” the Frenchman said. “In sumo you never can tell who the guy who wins is. He doesn’t show his happiness because of respect for his opponents and that shows how deep the culture is there for the respect for each other. Is it something you can copy [in the Premier League]? I don’t think so because it’s not part of our culture.”

▷▷▷ Pot calling the kettle black? Van Gaal slams ‘boring’ United Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says the club have become more boring under his successor Jose Mourinho, saying he would prefer to watch city rivals and league leaders Manchester City in action. The Dutchman was regularly criticised for his negative tactics during his two-year stint as United manager from 2014, while Mourinho has been accused of “parking the bus” in big games. “Right now, looking at United, I have to conclude Mourinho is not being criticised while it’s far more boring football,” Van Gaal was quoted as saying by The Mirror. “What United produce now is defensive football. I always played attacking football. They don’t do that now because Jose Mourinho plays so defensive.”

▷▷▷ AC Milan teenager claims ‘moral abuse’ to cancel his contract Teenage goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is claiming he suffered “moral abuse” at the time of renewing his AC Milan contract last summer and wants to cancel the deal, according to Italian media reports yesterday. The 18-year-old player’s agent Mino Raiola has reportedly asked Milan bosses to cancel the contract on the grounds of “psychological pressure” suffered by Donnarumma to renew last July, Corriere della

Sera reported. Raiola and the player’s lawyers were reportedly not present in the room at the time of the signature. And the newspaper claims that the teenager has sent a letter to Milan bosses outlining his demands. If the agreement is cancelled, Donnarumma would return to his former contract which expires on June 30, 2018 and would be free to join another club.
