- JAMES LANGTON

The Centennial Initiative will follow the four themes of the Year of Zayed – respect, wisdom, building people and sustainability

The life of Sheikh Zayed is to be told in 100 minutes and 100 films, in a series to be released by the National Archives.

The minute-long short films will be uploaded to a YouTube channel and social media as part of the Centennial Initiative organised by the archive as its contribution to the Year of Zayed.

There will also be 100 education games for children that can be downloaded free, which will highlight the achievements of the Founding Father in nation building.

On the same theme, there will be a series of 100 postcards and 100 photograph exhibitions over the coming year.

The archive has also announced Zayed in 100 Tales, an initiative with the Ministry of Education for the Student Historians’ Club, with winners honoured at the Dhabi Book Fair.

Winning research papers will be published, along with a collection of 100 quotes from Sheikh Zayed and 100 documents about the founding leader to be published on social media.

The archive says the Centennial Initiative will follow the four themes of the Year of Zayed – respect, wisdom, building people and sustainability.

Dr Abdulla Al Raisi, director general of the archive, said: “No matter how big the initiatives that shed light on the unique personality of Sheikh Zayed and his endless giving may be, and no matter how numerous its related projects are, they will be too little for such a great leader who unified our people and founded a nation on a durable basis.

“He worked hard on building the people and honing their skills, because he firmly believed in the importance of human capital in the development process as well as in safeguarding the achievements of the homeland and its renaissance.”
