American pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai to put the focus on ‘mobility’
The US state department is seeking proposals for the design and construction of the country’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The American pavilion will emphasise “mobility”, which is a sub-theme of the event from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, to coincide with the UAE’s 50th anniversary.
“The pavilion’s architecture and interior design should communicate American progress, ingenuity and innovation in social, physical and mechanical mobility in commerce and the arts,” the department said.
Over the next two months, the department’s Expo unit will hold a series of information sessions in Washington, New York, Detroit, San Francisco and Houston on the country’s participation in Dubai.
It is seeking proposals for the fundraising, project management, design, construction, operation and dismantling and removing the US pavilion.
Last October, the US announced its intention to take part in the Expo with an official pavilion if it could attract a viable private sector partner and successfully raise funds for the project.
More than 160 nations have confirmed they will take part in Expo 2020, which will be the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, according to its website.
Under the theme of “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future,” and the sub-themes of opportunity, mobility and sustainability, the exhibition is expected to attract 25 million visits.
